BrewBench exists because buying home espresso gear is unusually confusing for how simple the decision should be. The marketing emphasises bar pressure and stainless finishes, while the two things that determine whether your coffee tastes good — grinder consistency and temperature stability — get a line of fine print.

How we write

  • We separate spec from experience. Published specifications are stated as specs. Where something comes from owner reports rather than measurement, we say that.
  • We state the weaknesses. Every product on this site has a documented downside in its own entry. A product with none listed is a product we have not researched properly.
  • We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. If a guide is based on published data and aggregated owner reports, the guide says so.
  • We show the total cost. The machine is usually half the setup.
How we're funded: affiliate commissions from links to retailers like Amazon. The commission rate is identical across a category, so it cannot influence our ranking. Full details on the disclosure page.

What we cover

Home espresso machines, grinders, and the accessories that actually change the result — scales, water treatment, and fresh beans. We deliberately avoid covering anything where we cannot say something specific and useful.

Corrections

If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. Prices and specs move fast and we would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong. Contact →
